At Art Earth we love all things African, which is why we opened up in the first place. Our appreciation of African art has grown from our experiences of living in a number of African countries. Art Earth is our small attempt to make change in a different way, by creating new markets for African artisans, strengthening livelihoods for artisans’ families and communities.
We started small and have grown to source products from around 15 African countries. We buy most of our products directly from small cooperatives and businesses, from the people who make them. We believe that promoting artists’ businesses is a more effective and sustainable form of development.
We stock a wide range of African products, including beautiful hand-woven baskets, pots and bowls, wooden dishes and utensils, a great range of fabrics including scarves, throws, blankets, cushion covers and clothing, Fair Chain chocolate and coffee, beautiful natural stone bowls, carvings, oil paintings and drawings, a beautiful range of jewellery and much much more.
Due to the unique nature of most of our goods, note that we do not sell online, only in our shop.
Fairtrade is about better prices, decent working conditions, local sustainability, and fair terms of trade for farmers and workers in the developing world.
Our suppliers are committed to sourcing their raw materials sustainably, maintaining the natural balance in the local environment.
Our products come directly from small co-operatives and businesses around Africa ensuring a fair price for producers.
The craftsmen and women keep alive their skills and traditions passed unbroken through the generations.
We believe that promoting local artists’ businesses is a more effective form of development.
Our products are made from high quality natural materials from around Africa.
